For anyone thinking of using this metal frame system, here are a few tips on technique!
The metal frames mostly screw into the floor and ceiling stud work with plasterboard screws but occasionally you need to mount bits to plasterboard only. For that I use these babies. Simple to use and strong, and more importantly generally available all over France.
The red handled tool compresses the metal wall plug. Saves loads of time when you would otherwise be spending a lot of time driving screws in.
The yellow handled tool below is a crimp tool for crimping the frame uprights to the rails. Again quick cheap and easy.
Where you cant crimp you use these self tapping screws
And the result:
And yes that is a door; it opens and closes and everything!
And no its not a short door but tall ceilings at 3 metres high, ha! Just the insulation and plaster board to go; probably only take half an hour:)
P.S. For those who have followed my blog you will know I would have liked to make another oak door to match the others. However TIME is the problem....and I'm running out of it.
